Upcoming Dates

CJSF is only open to eighth grade students for the Fall semester.  However, both eighth and seventh graders can apply for the Spring semester.  Our meetings will be once a month during the Access period.  All meetings will be held in the gym. Our first meeting will be an informational meeting, and we will hand out applications at the end of our meeting for those students interested in applying for membership.  We will take attendance at all meetings.

CJSF California Junior Scholarship Federation

The purpose of CJSF is to foster high standards of scholarship, service and citizenship on the part of California students in grades seven and eight.

Students must apply each semester, and acceptance is granted according to the previous semester’s grades.  Applications must include a copy of the preceding semester transcript and a membership check (LCMS CJSF) for $15.00.  Each student will receive a membership card each semester.

Seventh graders may apply for the first time during the second semester.  If a student is a member for three consecutive semesters, he or she qualifies for HONORS membership during the spring of 8th grade.  Each honor student will receive a gold seal on his/her diploma, a gold pin, as well as the honor of wearing a medallion during the graduation ceremonies.  There will be an HONORS LUNCHEON in May.

Students are required to complete five volunteer hours per semester (2 school, 2 community and 1 choice).  Meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of each month.  The meeting will take place in the MPR, during the Access periods.  Informational flyers and due dates will be announced during the regular meetings.

Two service projects and two field trips are scheduled for each school year. Details, dates and permissions slips will be distributed at the CJSF meetings.

CSF (California Scholarship Federation) is the high school affiliate.  We encourage all students to apply for membership in high school.

Membership Point Requirements

  • You must earn a minimum of 8 points from last semester's grades.  You must use only grades from English, History, Math and Science to accrue CJSF points.  A=3points, B=1 point, C=0 points
  • A grade of D or F in any course, even one you cannot use to qualify, disqualifies you from membership at this time.
  • High school math classes (Geometry or Algebra 2) in middle school earn 1 extra point for an A or a B
  • Membership is only open to eighth graders for the first semester.
