About Ms. Bloom

I've wanted to teach math since I was eight years old.  Math has always been my favorite subject, and I strive to make it other people's favorite subject as well.  I believe that anyone can be a "math person" and that math is not an inherent skill.  Every person has the ability to be a mathematician, through hard work, patience, and perseverance.
I double majored in Comparative Literature and Mathematics at UC Davis and took classes at CSU East Bay to get my teaching credentials.  Although my majors may seem to be at opposite ends of the spectrum, the main thing they have in common is the ability to think critically and analyze given details. These skills are important in every content area, and I hope to instill in my students these skills. With the rise of STEM fields, having mathematical skills is no longer optional.  My goal is to make the classroom a safe, engaging place to explore mathematics.
When I'm not in the classroom you can find me on my couch watching Netflix with my cat, or traveling around the northern California area with my boyfriend.  I love good story telling, great food, board games, label makers, and all animals.  I love learning about my students and knowing what they are passionate about.  And I love helping students be the best they can be.
