Counselor's Corner5/23/2022

Sadly, this is the last issue of the Counselor’s Corner for the 2021-2022 academic year.  The Counseling office will be closed from 3pm on June 14 and reopen at 7:30am on August 1st.

There will be no more (including today) peer tutoring this year. Please look for details here in October for the 2022-2023 peer tutoring program.

The results are in from our final, 6th grade backpack inspection:  absent 6th graders that didn’t get” inspected 6 (down from 7); students without their planner: 1 (down from 4); students that “need improvement”: 5 (no change from 5); repeat “need improvement”: 4 (up from 3)

8th grade – As you know, we are quickly approaching the end of the school year and high school is right around the corner. Keeping that in mind your student will likely need a copy of his/her transcript heading into 9th grade. Therefore, in order to prepare for next school year, please be sure to print your student’s transcript through infinite campus parent portal by July 29.  July 29 is the deadline and you will not be able to print the transcript after this date.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

You need to be aware of what others are doing, applaud their efforts, acknowledge their successes, and encourage them in their pursuits. When we all help one another, everybody wins.   Jim Stovall

PERSONAL/SOCIAL

We would like to extend an invitation for you to share any transitions your family may be going through with our Counselor. While we respect your privacy, oftentimes students can be distracted and unable to learn when they are worried or anxious. All information is kept strictly confidential.

If your family is experiencing difficulties at home, we would like to provide support at school. We understand that you are not always able to share details and that's okay. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning or weekend, please text "Handle with Care" to 925-272-9639  Nothing else will be said or asked. This will let us know that your child may need extra time, patience or help during the day.
